Here are the big names who got hurt during Super Bowl 50 between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos.
Corey Brown, WR, Panthers: Brown's head bounced off the turf after connecting with Cam Newton on a 42-yard bomb midway through the third quarter. He left the field immediately and was taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion. Shortly thereafter, he was ruled out for the rest of the game. Brown led the Panthers with 80 yards receiving before suffering his concussion.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, Panthers: Stewart limped off the field midway through the first quarter after getting tackled awkwardly by Derek Wolfe. The team listed him as questionable to return because of a foot injury, but Stewart missed only eight plays. He had four carries, including a leaping 1-yard touchdown run, on the Panthers' first scoring drive. Later in the second quarter, the team again listed Stewart as questionable to return with the same foot injury. He was not on the field for the Panthers' final two series before halftime, but returned at the beginning of the third quarter
Demaryius Thomas, WR, Broncos: Denver trainers evaluated Thomas on the sideline after the WR was rocked over the middle by Panthers LB Luke Kuechly with 11 minutes left in the second quarter. Thomas was back on the field for Denver's next series.
Andrew Norwell, G, Panthers: Norwell, Carolina's starting left guard, left the game in the third quarter because of a right hamstring injury. According to the CBS telecast, Norwell was on the sideline, but he did not have his helmet.
Shaquil Barrett, LB, Broncos: Barrett was taken to the locker room to go through concussion protocol after sustaining a jarring block while covering a punt in the third quarter.
Fozzy Whittaker, RB, Panthers: Whittaker went to the locker room because of a right leg injury in the third quarter. At the time, he was the Panthers' second-leading rusher with 26 yards on four carries, filling in nicely while Stewart was in and out of the lineup. Whittaker returned to the field in the fourth quarter with the game out of reach.
