Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Jaye Howard has signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears, the team announced Thursday.
The Chiefs released Howard on April 24. He was scheduled to make $3.7 million in base salary in 2017, including $2.5 million in guarantees.
He was waived with a failed physical designation. He injured a hip last November and had to have it surgically repaired. He was placed on season-ending injured reserve Dec. 1.
He had made one visit since being released -- with the Bears.
The 6-foot-3, 301-pound Howard appeared in eight games -- including four starts -- with the Chiefs in 2016.
Howard, 28, has appeared in 45 games over parts of five seasons with the Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks, recording 122 tackles and 7.5 sacks.
