Kansas City Chiefs OG Kelechi Osemele tears tendons in both knees

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City Chiefs starting left guard Kelechi Osemele suffered torn tendons in both knees Sunday, coach Andy Reid said after his team's 40-32 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Osemele was injured in the first quarter and was replaced by veteran Mike Remmers, who started a game two weeks ago at right guard after an illness to Andrew Wylie.

Osemele was injured without being hit. He stumbled on the turf after trying to block on a Patrick Mahomes scramble. He was taken off the field on a cart.

The Chiefs also lost wide receiver Sammy Watkins in the second quarter with a hamstring injury. Watkins hobbled off the field and after a quick sideline examination left for the locker room. He didn't return to the sideline.

Before the injury, Watkins had two catches for 24 yards and a touchdown.
