Forward Nick Bonino is heading back to Pittsburgh where he won two Stanley Cups with the Penguins.
San Jose traded him for fifth- and seventh-round picks in the 2023 draft.
The Canadiens are playing third-party broker to take on a portion of Bonino's salary and get defenseman Tony Sund and a 2024 fifth-round pick in return.
