Cardinals' rookies enter NFL with new numbers

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals' rookie class will enter the NFL with new numbers.

No, not phone numbers (well, maybe), but the ones they’ll wear on their chests and backs. All seven draft picks have chosen their numbers, according to the roster posted to the team’s website. None of them, however, will carry over his college number to the pros. In some cases, such as with first-round pick Haason Reddick, NFL rules prohibit players at certain positions from wearing certain numbers. Reddick, a linebacker, wore No. 7 in college, but NFL rules say he can wear only Nos. 40-59 and 90-99. Fifth-round pick T.J. Logan wore No. 8 at North Carolina but running backs can wear only Nos. 20-49 in the NFL.

In other cases, such as with second-round pick Budda Baker, his college number of No. 32 was taken by Tyrann Mathieu.

Here’s the complete list of the numbers the Cardinals’ rookies selected:

LB Haason Reddick: No. 43

S Budda Baker: No. 36

WR Chad Williams: No. 16

OL Dorian Johnson: No. 64

OL Will Holden: No. 69

RB T.J. Logan: No. 22

CB Rudy Ford: No. 30
