Ravens' Chris Canty knows his locker is in 'eye of the tornado'

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Chris Canty's unfavorable place in the locker room is not lost on the veteran defensive end.

From right to left, there are four lockers beside him: Terrell Suggs, Steve Smith Sr., Breshad Perriman and Justin Forsett. Not only are all four on injured reserve, but they're lined up exactly in order they went on IR.

Just don't point out that foreboding observation to Canty.

"Don't you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby," Canty said, reciting a line from "Talladega Nights." "I see where you're going with that, and I'm going to stay prayed up."

Canty said teammates have brought up the fact that he's not in the most coveted spot in the locker room.

"I hate to laugh, but my locker is right here," Canty said. "To think about it, it's a tough break for all those guys. Certainly, our prayers are with them as they go through the rehab process. You never would've thought we would have so many season-ending injuries. But we don't make any excuses as a football team. We have confidence that the next guy can step in and perform. That's the standard we hold ourselves to."

Still, someone suggested to Canty that he should change his locker just on the safe side.

"I'm in the eye of the tornado," Canty said.
