The five biggest injuries from NFL preseason Week 2

Two down. Two to go.

More than anything else, NFL teams hope to get through the preseason with a minimum of injuries to significant players. Most of them are halfway there. After only a handful of ailments in Week 1, here are the most notable injuries to occur during Week 2.

RB Matt Jones, Washington Redskins

Injury: Sprained AC joint in his left shoulder

Prognosis: The Redskins were optimistic that the sprain, suffered Friday night against the New York Jets, wouldn't be a long-term injury. But Jones said it caused pain that he estimated to be a "seven" on a scale of 1-10. He wasn't able to raise his hand after the game. The best-case scenario here is that Jones, who will be the Redskins' primary runner this season, will be ready for the start of the regular season.

RB Jeremy Langford, Chicago Bears

Injury: Left foot ailment

Prognosis: The Bears have not revealed the precise nature of the injury. Nor would coach John Fox say if it's serious or whether Langford sat out practice over the weekend simply as a precaution. All we know is that Langford suffered the injury Thursday and was wearing a walking boot Saturday.

QB Brett Hundley, Green Bay Packers

Injury: Sprained left ankle

Prognosis: Hundley has been dealing with the injury for much of training camp and reinjured it in Thursday night's preseason game against the Oakland Raiders. He's expected to sit out practice this week and won't play Friday against the San Francisco 49ers. It's possible he'll be ready for the Packers' preseason finale Sept. 1, but regardless, Hundley is still expected to be ready to back up Aaron Rodgers when the regular season begins.

PK Caleb Sturgis, Philadelphia Eagles

Injury: Concussion

Prognosis: Sturgis is in the concussion protocol after a punted football landed on his head during pregame warm-ups Thursday. He'll be evaluated daily as he attempts to fend off Cody Parkey in what has become a tight competition for the team's place-kicking job.

TE Jeff Cumberland, San Diego Chargers

Injury: Torn left Achilles

Prognosis: Cumberland, a backup who spent six seasons with the Jets before signing with the Chargers in the offseason, is out for the season.
