Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) has said a heavyweight fight with Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) "has to happen this year."
Both UK fighters are coming back from defeats in world title fights and are without world title belts, Joshua having been stopped by Daniel Dubois in September and Fury by Oleksandr Usyk in December.
Speaking at the Ring Magazine Awards in London, Joshua said he is confident of making it happen.
"It's a fight I want to see because I am a fan of boxing. When I am in the gym, everyone is asking me [about this fight]. I ain't got many years ahead of me. I want to leave the game with a bang and make an impact," the 35-year-old said.
"Everyone is asking me the same question. It's up to me to deliver, that's why I'm saying it has to happen this year. I think we can make this fight happen."
Joshua also said talks are yet to take place with Fury's team about a potential bout.
