NFL Week 17 market watch: Gauging playoff implications

Week 17 in the NFL can be overwhelming. Must-wins. Playoff-seeding scenarios. Teams resting players. A buildup of injuries. Massive line moves in the betting market. Let's take a look at the moves this week so far and what they mean from our betting perspective. Hopefully it can serve as a guide leading into Week 17 games. I will also compare my top 10 power rankings heading into the close of the season to ESPN's top 10. Let's dive in.

Washington Football Team (-1.5, 43) at Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles were as high as a 2.5-point favorite on Sunday at open, and Washington has been taking money ever since. Philadelphia was officially eliminated from playoff contention with their loss to Dallas on Sunday, and Washington can clinch the division with a win, but does the "must-win" really warrant this move? While Washington is confident Alex Smith will be able to play, it isn't a certainty. The Eagles are starting Jalen Hurts again under center, and as far as we can tell at this point in the week, it is business as usual for Philly in Week 17.
