Scott Van Pelt's Winners for NFL Week 16

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers get the cover against a slumping Dolphins team. John Jones/Icon Sportswire

4-3-1 last week -- 22 over .500 for year. Wanted to include some bowl games this week, but I just didn't love anything. But I do really like a bunch of NFL underdogs. Which everyone knows is the sweet tooth we have. I never expect anyone to like them, and I don't care, to be honest. We stand on our results. I was going to try to turn the picks into like a "Twelve Days of Christmas" deal -- but that got cumbersome -- so it's down and dirty.

Season: 78-56-4

NFL Week 16

Cincinnati Bengals (-3, 41.5) at New England Patriots
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts

Van Pelt's pick: Patriots +3

The Bengals have been a covering machine -- but I have to back the Pats at home in this one.

SVP: 0-6 all time when picking against the Bengals

Detroit Lions (-2.5, 43.5) at Carolina Panthers
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina

Van Pelt's pick: Panthers +2.5

Gave Carolina in our Head-To-Head Against the Spread segment on the show. So, you already knew they were on this list.

SVP: 6-1 all time when picking the Panthers

Washington Commanders at San Francisco 49ers (-7, 37.5)
Saturday, 4:05 p.m. ET, Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, California

Van Pelt's pick: Commanders +7

We are on Washington plus the points at San Francisco.

SVP: 0-2 all time when picking the Commanders

Las Vegas Raiders at Pittsburgh Steelers (-2.5, 38.5)
Sunday, 8:15 p.m. ET, Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh

Van Pelt's pick: Steelers -2.5

Christmas Eve night game in Pittsburgh, we are backing the Stillers to come up big and win. We will lay the number there.

SVP: 3-11 all time when picking home favorites (lost last 10)

Green Bay Packers at Miami Dolphins (-4, 50)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida

Van Pelt's pick: Packers +4

Three more 'dogs, with two on Christmas. Green Bay plus the points in Miami.

SVP: 4-0 all time when picking against the Dolphins

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-7.5, 40.5) at Arizona Cardinals
Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET, State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona

Van Pelt's pick: Cardinals +7.5

Not sure how -- but Arizona and Trace McSorley to stay close with the Buccaneers.

SVP: 14-7-1 all time when picking "Sunday Night Football" games

Los Angeles Chargers (-4.5, 45.5) at Indianapolis Colts
Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis

Van Pelt's pick: Colts +4.5

And "Monday Night Football" we will ride with the Colts and the energy of Nick Foles, if you will.

SVP: 5-2 all time when picking "Monday Night Football" games

There you go. You have cold winter weather, Christmas and a bunch of underdogs. What could be better?
