Clemson running back Tee Higgins held off two blocks as part of 36-yards touchdown run to give the Tigers a 17-7 lead against LSU with under 11 minutes left in the second quarter of the College Football Playoff national title game on Monday (watch on ESPN and ESPN App).

Prior to the play, which capped a 96-yard, four-play scoring drive for Clemson, LSU had not trailed by double digits in a game this season.

With less than three minutes left in the first quarter, LSU evened the score at 7 after Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Ja'Marr Chase. Clemson opened the overall scoring when quarterback Trevor Lawrence ran in for a touchdown with 6:41 left in the opening frame to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead.
