Ohio State OT Josh Simmons declares for NFL draft

Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons has declared for the NFL draft, agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Simmons had season-ending knee surgery after sustaining the injury in the first half of the Buckeyes' 32-31 loss to Oregon on Oct. 12. Rosenhaus said surgery went well and he's already ahead of schedule with his rehab.

"Josh will be fully cleared for practice by the start of NFL training camp, and he will be a high-first-round pick," said Rosenhaus, who will represent Simmons along with Robert Bailey and Oliver Chell.

Simmons was having a banner senior season for the Buckeyes before his injury. The former transfer from San Diego State had not allowed a sack this season.

Before the injury, ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. had Simmons ranked as the No. 25 overall prospect in the 2025 NFL draft. Simmons is currently ranked as the No. 4 offensive tackle in Kiper's latest Big Board rankings.

Information from ESPN's Jake Trotter was used in this report.
