SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Spalding Hoophall Classic brought out the nation's very best high school and prep talent to the birth place of basketball at Springfield College once again. In total, seven of the top 10 prospects from the Class of 2012 were in action, while the 2013 class was represented with its best three. As always, the event was first class from top to bottom.
Standout players
Shabazz Muhammad (Las Vegas/Bishop Gorman)
2012, SF, 6-6, 215 pounds
He possesses an incredible combination of explosive athleticism and sheer strength. That power is maximized by the fact that he always goes hard -- whether it be running lanes in transition, attacking the rim, or creating space on the perimeter with rips and pivots. While the majority of his scoring still comes in close proximity to the rim, he's a matchup nightmare who overpowers smaller defenders in close and blows right by bigger men on the perimeter.
