Quarterback recruiting is heating up with the spring evaluation period quickly approaching. With Ricky Town (USC), Josh Rosen (UCLA), Jarrett Stidham (Texas Tech) and others off the board, colleges are adjusting boards and finding new targets with several ESPN 300 prospects gaining momentum.
• No. 137 Jake Browning, another in California's standout class of signal-callers, is factoring into the Pac-12 equation. Washington is recruiting from a position of strength with California, Boise State, Washington State and others playing catchup.
• No. 71 Kevin Dillman has seen his stock both rise and fall at various times in the last year. Nebraska, Arizona State and Arizona have turned up the heat in pursuit of the jumbo dual-threat prospect. The Sun Devils also factor into the race for No. 165 Lorenzo Nunez.
• Under Armour All-America Deondre Francois has a top four of Florida State, Tennessee, Ohio State and Auburn with the Seminoles trending and likely to take two QBs in the 2015 class. Francois is transferring to IMG Academy for his senior season, where former FSU QB Chris Weinke is the head coach. He plans to announce his decision prior to the season.
• Despite the possibility of playing another position in college, No. 11 Torrance Gibson is factoring heavily into the quarterback recruiting in the Southeast. Auburn, Ohio State and Tennessee look to have the inside track on Miami, Oklahoma and Florida. An early pledge to Auburn or Ohio State would greatly change the quarterback boards for the two programs.
• No. 280 Dwayne Lawson could be emerging as the top choice for Florida, and the Gators are leading a pack of four that includes Tennessee, UCF and Ohio State.
• No. 103 Drew Lock, a Lee's Summit, Mo., product has Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Michigan State and Ohio State among his many suitors, but the home-state Tigers are considered the heavy favorite. Missouri not inking a signal-caller in the 2014 class only enhances those chances.
• No. 47 Kyler Murray has been thought to be leaning heavily towards Texas A&M for a while now, but Oregon and Texas Tech remain high on his list. The Red Raiders are a surprise with Stidham having committed, but Murray has a strong relationship with head coach Kliff Kingsbury. LSU, Auburn and Oklahoma remain in the hunt.
• Fast-rising product Travis Waller factors into the Murray recruitment as well. Should Oregon lose out on Murray, Waller could be in line for an offer. Currently, Washington appears to have the inside track with Arizona trying hard. A Stanford offer would be the wild card.
• No. 105 Brady White is patiently awaiting an offer from Stanford, but that might not happen. If the Cardinal doesn't extend an offer, California appears to be in the driver's seat.
• No. 100 Brandon Wimbush is the most highly coveted QB on the upper East Coast. Penn State is working hard to fend off Miami, Ohio State and South Carolina. An unofficial visit to Coral Gables in February left a lasting impression.
