Getting ready to recruit

LOS ANGELES -- After hosting a handful of official visitors during the final months of 2011, the USC coaches will blow past that number over a few weeks in January. It begins this weekend, with USC playing host to a group of official visitors that could hit double digits.

With how important the offensive line is to this class, it is no surprise that this weekend will feature some of the top targets in the position. The group will be led by USC verbal commits Max Tuerk (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita) and Jordan Simmons (Encino, Calif./Crespi), two players who are comfortable leading the recruiting charge for the Trojans. They'll have plenty of opportunity this weekend, as fellow offensive linemen Andrus Peat (Tempe, Ariz./Corona Del Sol), Isaac Seumalo (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis) and Kyle Dodson (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) are scheduled to visit.

Peat has narrowed his choices to a final four, with USC joining Stanford, Nebraska and Florida State. The Cornhuskers, after signing Peat's older brother last season and receiving a verbal commitment from his cousin last week, would seem to be the frontrunner, but the USC staff has done well with Peat, and the big tackle understands the importance of playing in a pro-style offense in college.
