Middle distance runner Edose Ibadin and quarter-miler Emerald Egwim have both been cleared by the IAAF to represent Nigeria after requesting a switch from the USA.

Both athletes, who were born in the USA to Nigerian parents, were initially denied permission to switch allegiance to Nigeria despite being registered by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) for the ongoing World Championships in London.

The duo eventually provided documentation, including their parents' birth certificates, attesting to their Nigerian origins. Edosie is now expected to be in action in the men's 800m on Saturday while Egwin will have to wait till almost the last day of the championships when the women's 4x400m relay team take to the track at the Olympic Stadium.

The inclusion of the duo brings to 20 the number of athletes Nigeria has registered for the competition.

Visa problems have meant the Nigerian contingent failed to arrive as a group. Medal hopeful Blessing Okagbare was the earliest to arrive.

Ese Brume and Yinka Ajayi joined the team on Saturday morning while Abike Egbeniyi, who is expected to compete in the women's 4x400m, relay will have to make another trip to the embassy on Monday for her visa.
