Kimi Raikkonen expects Eau Rouge to be easier this year

Kimi Raikkonen is expecting Spa-Francorchamp's famous Eau Rouge corner to present less of a challenge at this year's Belgium Grand Prix than it did in 2014.

The corner is one of the most extreme on the F1 calendar as cars undergo a 1.7G compression before a steep climb up to Raidillon and the Kemmel Straight. Under last year's regulation changes the cars shed enough downforce to make the corner more of a challenge, but Raikkonen believes some of the drivers in front-running cars will have an easier time when F1 returns to Spa this weekend.

"Last year for us it was quite a tricky corner and it depends how good your car is," he told the Ferrari website. "I expect this year it will be more of an easy story going through there, but quite a few years back it was very easily flat. It depends from year to year, the tyres and what the conditions are like. But still things can go wrong and it's a fast place, so it's exciting."

Raikkonen is looking forward to racing on one of F1's classic tracks.

"I enjoy it there. The circuit is nice - an old-fashioned circuit - and it's very flowing and it's nice because it's in the forest. I enjoy to go there but the weather can be very tricky there. Usually we see a very exciting race there with lots of overtaking and lots of things happening."
