Nico Rosberg to study Hamilton's video and data in attempt to get ahead

Nico Rosberg knows where he was losing time to team-mate Lewis Hamilton during Friday practice at the Italian Grand Prix and will use a combination of video footage and data to try to turn it around.

Rosberg was just 0.021s off Hamilton in second practice after both drivers attempted a lap on fresh soft tyres. After setting faster times in the first two sectors, he said he made two mistakes in the final sector, which was enough to drop him to second.

"I lost it in the last two corners and I'm not happy with that because Lewis just seems to be quicker there at the moment," Rosberg said. "I definitely need to work on those tonight, look at his on-board, see where he is turning in, how much kerb he is taking and try to figure out what he is doing differently and try to do the same tomorrow."

He added: "I go through the on-board cameras from all the other drivers, especially the drivers who are doing a good job out there and try to understand what they are doing better than me and also look at Lewis' data and compare that to mine to see what he is doing differently and where he is doing better. Of course it's also to see what I am doing better than the others and to make sure I stick with that."

After two tyre failures at the Belgian Grand Prix, Pirelli has enforced relatively high pressures of 21 psi on the front and 19.5 psi on the rear for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix. Rosberg, who suffered a blowout at the Belgian Grand Prix during Friday practice, said he was happy to work with Pirelli's limitations in the name of safety.

"It's okay, the car just slides around a bit more but it's fine," Rosberg said of the higher pressures. "If it's good for safety then we will take that.

"I'm pleased with the effort that has gone in [from Pirelli] since Spa. I'm ready to try and understand it and put in place all the measures that further improve the safety."
