Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed Pirelli will remain as Formula One's tyre supplier until the end of 2019.
Pirelli had competition from Michelin for the tyre supply deal from 2017 to 2019, but after entering negotiations with Ecclestone Pirelli came out on top. The news was confirmed by Ecclestone ahead of the Russian Grand Prix while talking to broadcasters on the grid.
Pirelli made more testing a condition of its continued involvement in Formula One, but the exact details of the deal have not yet been announced. Formula One is set to run wider tyres in 2017 - a proposal Pirelli was willing to get behind.
