Former driver David Coulthard has joined Channel 4's presenting team for the 2016 season.
Channel 4 is taking over from the BBC's final three years after the latter ended its agreement with FOM early. Coulthard, who drove for Williams, McLaren and Red Bull in a career spanning 246 races and 13 victories, was part of the BBC team from 2009 when it took over from ITV.
The broadcaster has awarded the production contract to Whisper Films, of which Coulthard is one of the founders.
"This is an exciting time for the sport and an exciting time for Whisper Films," Coulthard said."The F1 world has been incredibly impressed with what Whisper has delivered over the last five years and Channel 4's decision is testament to that.
"I'm looking forward to being part of an exciting new era for Formula One, with Whisper Films and our proven level of creativity and innovation very much at the heart of that."
Ed Harvard, Channel 4's head of TV events and sport, said: "Whisper Films outlined an extremely impressive and exciting vision for their F1 coverage, with outstanding on and off screen talent as an integral part of their pitch.
"We are delighted that David Coulthard will be at the heart of Channel 4's coverage and look forward to announcing the full presenting team in the coming weeks."
Channel 4's tenure as F1 broadcaster will begin in Melbourne for this year's season opener. A key part of the deal was the delivery of live grand prix races without ad breaks.
