The first Formula One action of 2016 got underway in Paul Ricard on Monday as Pirelli conducted a wet weather test using 2015 cars.
Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren are present at the test in the south of France, which will see the cars run on an artificially soaked track over the first two days of this week. The teams are not allowed to test new parts and must stick by Pirelli's run plan in order to evaluate prototypes of its wet weather tyres.
The test got underway on a shortened 3.5-kilometre layout of the Paul Ricard circuit, with runs of 10 laps from each team. The track will be soaked by sprinklers between runs and the cars will run 10 seconds apart to maintain consistent conditions.
Kimi Raikkonen drove the Ferrari on Monday morning with team-mate Sebastian Vettel due to drive later in the two-day test. Daniel Ricciardo kicked off Red Bull's test and will share the car with Daniil Kvyat, while McLaren will use test driver Stoffel Vandoorne throughout the two days of running.
