Sebastian Vettel says there is more to come on both the chassis and the engine side from the new Ferrari after topping the first two days of winter testing.
After a successful opening day with the SF16-H Vettel finished 0.715s ahead of Daniel Ricciardo on Tuesday after the pair swapped quick laps on Pirelli's new ultra-soft compound. Vettel also completed 126 laps, nearly two race distances, on his final day this week before he hands over to team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.
Asked if Ferrari's newest challenger suits his driving style a lot more than its predecessor, Vettel replied: "I think always when the car has more grip it suits everybody's driving style, so yeah. I think it's a step forward this car, so it's positive. Also I think the power unit has improved. There's still a lot of stuff that we know is coming, and we know we have to improve, but overall for these two days I'm fairly happy."
"I think so far the first thing that matters is that the feeling is good and the initial feeling was fine. I think building up in the first two days was important -- the car is reacting, doing what I ask for, so that's positive now. Hopefully Kimi has a similar impression and we know that there's a lot to do -- we need a lot of mileage and there's stuff to work on but for now it feels okay."
Vettel was then asked if he was impressed with the extensive changes on the new car and replied: "Absolutely. There's a lot of work that has gone into that car, not just over winter but also before. It's a completely different approach and project.
"Outside you see some changes -- obviously the nose is very different, the front end of the car -- but inside there have been a lot of changes as well, so I'm not going to touch on those but as you can imagine you try to improve and yeah, try to make the car faster overall, yeah, a lot of people have put a lot of sweat and talent in that car, so hopefully it turns out to be a good one."
