A turbocharger issue in Haas' Ferrari power unit restricted the F1 newcomer to a solitary lap on the sixth day of testing in Barcelona.
Haas came into Wednesday after working overnight to fix a fuel system problem which limited Esteban Gutierrez yesterday. He completed an installation lap in the morning but then failed to emerge from the garage again before lunch, with the team tweeting it had found an "anomaly" in the power unit.
In the afternoon the team confirmed it would not run again for the rest of the session, meaning it has completed just 24 laps over two days. It is a setback for the team following its impressive mileage on the opening week.
As per the team's schedule, Romain Grosjean will be take over driving duties for Thursday and Friday, the final two days of testing before the Australian Grand Prix. However, team boss Gene Haas suggests Gutierrez may switch with Grosjean on one of the days to compensate for his lost running.
"It would be better to balance things out to give each driver some more time," Haas said. "We did one race simulation last week. If we can do another race simulation that would be good, we still have to practice pitstops. There's a lot to get done."
