Esteban Gutierrez admits he does not "want to wait anymore" after missing out on Haas' remarkable start to its debut season with two retirements.
Gutierrez crashed out of the Australian Grand Prix when hit from behind by Fernando Alonso, before a brake failure ended his race in Bahrain. Meanwhile, teammate Romain Grosjean steered his Haas VF-16 to a sixth-place finish in Australia before going one better with fifth in Bahrain to give the American team a dream start to life in Formula One.
When suggested he has had no good luck this season, Gutierrez replied: "Yeah, it's true. If I am very honest with you it's been a bit frustrating. But yeah, we are still pushing, we have a good car and the results should come now. Now we are in the third grand prix so now it is time. I don't want to wait anymore."
The Mexican driver is confident Haas has solved the problems which forced him out of the race in Bahrain.
"Yeah there was an analysis, it was addressed so now hopefully there is nothing else. I think it's part of the disc, the bell of the disc."
Grosjean recently suggested Haas still has 0.5s of performance to find from the car and Gutierrez admits the team always knew it was capable of scoring points, it just did not know when that would happen.
"We have exceeded our expectations. We were convinced that we would have a chance to score points as we said from the beginning, but we didn't really believe it was going to be as straightforward as it has been, in terms of car performance related, but yeah for me it's been a different case, I've been pretty unlucky at the beginning. But the car's feeling in general was quite surprising from the beginning, it was just really a matter of knowing really what our competitive level was going to be."
