Daniil Kvyat says Red Bull no longer has any weak circuits like it did in the 2014 or 2015 seasons.
Kvyat scored Red Bull's first podium of 2016, and the second of his career, in China as the team impressed by claiming a spot on the front row and matching Ferrari's race pace. Since the switch to V6 turbos, Red Bull has struggled whenever the emphasis has been on its Renault power unit but Kvyat says the team is starting to relish every circuit it comes to.
"Last year we were thinking about 'this track might suit us, this track might not', now we are not really thinking about it anymore," Kvyat said ahead of his home grand prix in Russia this weekend. "We are just going with it and it seems like any track we go to is suiting us well, especially on the race pace. We are starting to shine in qualifying as well.
"China and Bahrain were very power-linked tracks, but we were giving a proper battle to Ferrari in the race when we were on the same compounds. We were controlling that quite comfortably and it seems like there isn't any reason why in Sochi we can't go out there and show a very strong race and try and grab a few important points."
Kvyat's podium in China was timely after a bad start to the season, which included qualifying a lowly 18th in Bahrain. The Russian driver admits he is starting to feel more comfortable in the car.
"It was very important. Bahrain was actually a very good weekend apart from the most important session, qualifying. We still don't know exactly ... There was something to do with the tyres there, the car just felt like it was nowhere that session. We learned from it and in China we proved that we learned it.
"It was very important to be in quite an important pace in China [on] Saturday, Sunday, both felt quite comfortable. I think more steps to come in the future, I know we can improve and I know we will because we are very competitive people. On our side of the garage we want to always be the best."
With Toro Rosso pair Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz both seen as viable candidates for promotion to Red Bull next year Kvyat says the best way for him to keep his place at the team is to keep delivering strong results.
"I think [China was] a general message [to the team]. If you keep doing these kind of things in Formula One you are in a safe place regardless of other outside factors. I see my future of course with Red Bull and I would of course like to win as much as possible together, that's my dream. But I think this kind of feeling should be mutual and I hope it will be confirmed to be mutual soon.
"Of course I want to bring as many points possible to the team and show even at these hard times I'm doing my best. Last year was a very tough year for the team but I brought the most points to the team and I think that should all be recognised. I hope in the future it will and I already feel that it is being recognised."
