Ferrari boss Maurizio Arrivabene says his team must look to address the human errors that have resulted in an 81-point gap opening up to Mercedes in the constructors' championship after just four races this season.

Ferrari has suffered a series of reliability issues in the opening four races, with an airbox fire on Kimi Raikkonen's car in Australia, an engine shutdown on Sebastian Vettel's car in Bahrain and a gearbox problem for Vettel in Russia all impacting on results. First lap incidents at the last two races have also damaged its points scoring potential, with Sebastian Vettel now 77 points adrift of Nico Rosberg in the drivers' standings.

"If I had to define our championship this year, I would say we are not the kind of team who like to win comfortably!" Arrivabene said. "We are looking for a big challenge and what's happened is part of the racing story.

"We had problem with the software with Sebastian, turbo with Kimi, but I don't think it's bad luck because nearby there is always a human mistake. I prefer to have this kind of problem now instead of having it in the course of the season or later on, but we need to make sure it doesn't happen again.

"Concerning the championship, we are not giving up. The team doesn't want to give up and we want to put all our energy from now on. We have 17 races remaining, if we win 12 they can win the other five! I'm joking, but seriously, it's not gone and we are not going to give up."

Aside from the mechanical issues and first corner collisions, Ferrari also struggled for pace in Russia, but Arrivabene is confident Ferrari has the potential to hit back at the coming rounds.

"First of all we don't have to make any more mistakes on our side. Secondly I trust, I really trust, that from now on we can perform much better than we were performing; much better than how we have up until now. Because the characteristics of the tracks that are coming, the tokens we spent are going to help us more from Spain and on. Of course, the other ones are not sleeping and waiting for us so we have to fight."
