Lewis Hamilton: Monaco a true test of my resolve

Lewis Hamilton feels the Monaco Grand Prix will be a "true test" of his resolve as he looks to bounce back from his collision with Nico Rosberg in Spain.

Hamilton crashed into Rosberg on the opening lap in Barcelona having lost the lead at the start, eliminating both Silver Arrows from the race. The reigning world champion arrives in Monaco 43 points behind teammate Nico Rosberg after a difficult start to the current campaign.

The British driver has the phrase "Still I Rise" on his helmet and he is taking that philosophy to the streets of Monte Carlo this weekend.

"Barcelona was the worst feeling but, like I always say, the true test is how you get back up when you've been knocked down," Hamilton said. "It was a tough moment for all of us after the race but it's now chapter closed and looking ahead to Monaco."

Hamilton has won just once in Monaco, in 2008, but came agonizingly close last year before a strategic blunder saw him lose the lead with a late pit stop under the safety car. However, he takes comfort from his pace before that incident, which had seen him dominate the weekend.

"It's an incredible feeling making a car dance through those streets, one of the purest thrills you can have in a racing car. I've not had the best run of results in Monaco in recent years - but last year showed I have the pace to do the job.

"It's always a different weekend to the rest, with the extra day, the boats in the harbour and sleeping at home; that makes it fun because the whole rhythm is something else to the rest of the season. I'm approaching this weekend with only one result in mind."
