Alexander Rossi still a reserve driver at Manor

Alexander Rossi is still reserve driver at Manor despite Rio Haryanto's relegation to the same role.

This week a lack of funding saw Haryanto dropped from a race seat in favour of Esteban Ocon. Haryanto duly accepted the position of reserve driver, which Indy 500 winner Rossi had been signed to ahead of this season.

Though Haryanto's new role led to speculation Rossi was no longer affiliated with Manor in the same capacity, but his management told ESPN "nothing has changed" with his role as "Official Reserve Driver".

It means Manor will have Rossi and Haryanto to deputise should either Ocon or Pascal Wehrlein be unable to compete in event. It is worth noting the final three races of Rossi's IndyCar season -- the postponed Firestone 500, Watkins Glen and Sonoma -- clash with Belgium, Italy and Singapore, making it logical to have another driver signed on in that role.

Rossi drove in five races for Manor at the tail-end of 2015. He was linked with a drive this season but lost out to Haryanto, prompting a switch to Andretti Autosport -- leading to the American driver's historic rookie victory at the Brickyard.
