Haas could delay a final decision on its 2017 driver line-up until the end of the current season, according to team owner Gene Haas.
F1's newest team is yet to confirm who will partner Romain Grosjean next year, with uncertainty swirling around Esteban Gutierrez's future. The Mexican driver is confident he will remain on the grid next season but recently admitted the situation had become "complicated", without elaborating further.
Though a decision was originally slated for September, Haas is wait to continue until the season finale in November.
"I don't think we've made any hard decisions," Haas told reporters ahead of his team's home grand prix. "We're happy with our drivers as they are, but we're still evaluating everything and there's no advantage for us to say exactly who we may or may not have drive in 2017.
"We just keep evaluating, and every week we have a little bit more information. I wouldn't be surprised if we wait until the end of the season to make a decision.
"You never know who might become available that might change our perspective, so there's no big advantage to announcing our line-up sooner."
Gutierrez is yet to score a point in 2016, with all of Haas' 26 from this season alongside Grosjean's name. Haas has suggested the delay is for Gutierrez to further stake his claim for another year with the team.
"We've not excluded Esteban or anything like that. He is our current driver and we're happy -- there's four more races to bring in more information to decide what we want to do. Every race is important, and every race has a story to tell. We just want to evaluate things."
Speaking to media on Tuesday, Haas ruled out signing an American driver for 2017, saying there is no-one with the F1 experience required to help the team master next season's extensive rule changes.
