Jenson Button has been awarded an honorary degree in engineering by the University of Bath.
The 2009 world champion stepped down from his McLaren race seat after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ahead of a sabbatical which many have predicted will turn into a full retirement from F1 after 17 seasons in the sport. Since that news, Button's name has been linked with the vacant seat at Mercedes following Nico Rosberg's sudden decision to quit the sport as champion.
On Wednesday, Button's local university honoured his career and hailed him as "a perfect role model for any up and coming sportsman". The university posted a video of the moment he received the degree:
