Haas officially unveils 2017 car

BARCELONA, Spain -- Haas unveiled the VF17 in the Barcelona pit lane to officially kick off its second season in Formula One.

An hour before the start of pre-season testing for 2017, Romain Grosjean and new teammate Kevin Magnussen posed with the new car for the assembled media. Images of the car had emerged online at the weekend following the team's filming day at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Featuring a darker grey livery than its rookie season in 2017, the car shows a similar design style to the Ferrari which the team enjoys a close partnership -- especially the bargeboards and sidepods. The car also features a prominent shark fin, painted more creatively than any of its rivals, with a triangular indent -- another interpretation of the tail-end of the car.

Haas will hope the VF17 can build on its rookie finish of eighth in the championship. Along with all the other tests taking place this week and next on the new cars, Haas is also running a parallel brake programme with Brembo and Carbon Industrie materials to decide on a supplier for the coming season. The team struggled with its Brembo brakes in the second half of 2016.
