LIVE Transfer Talk: Arsenal eye trio of Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ruben Neves this summer

The 2022 January transfer window is closed but there's still plenty of gossip swirling about who's moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings and goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Arsenal eye €200m trio in summer

Arsenal had a pretty poor January transfer window so there is some pressure on that to improve ahead of the summer.

The Sun claims that the Gunners are looking to boost their strikeforce with the signings of Real Sociedad's Alexander Isak and Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has also been identified as a player to take the club to the next level.

After letting a host of squad players depart, while letting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang join Barcelona for free, Arsenal have saved some money in the long-term and are ready to spend it in the summer.

Isak has a €90 million release clause, while Calvert-Lewin (€60m) and Neves (€50m) could mean they end up splashing over €200m in total.

21.58 GMT: Atletico Madrid are interested in making an approach for Juventus right-back Mattia De Sciglio this summer, writes Rudy Galetti. 20.35 GMT: The Chicago Fire are closing in on the transfer of Lyon attacker Xherdan Shaqiri, a source confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.

The source stated that not all terms have been agreed, but that the talks were far enough along that the Fire feel confident that it will get done. Chicago will need to pay an undisclosed transfer fee to Lyon as part of the acquisition.

20.19 GMT: Barcelona have been in talks to sign Cesar Azpilicueta at the end of the season, reports Mundo Deportivo. After nearly 10 years with Chelsea, having joined from Marseille in August 2012, the club captain is out of contract in the summer, giving the Blaugrana hope of signing the Spain international on a free transfer.

19.46 GMT: Former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has been offered to Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce, according to Nicolo Schira. 19.29 GMT: Sebastian Blanco is poised to remain a member of the Portland Timbers, sources tell ESPN's Jeff Carlisle. The free agent midfielder, long a fan favorite in Portland, explored the idea of playing elsewhere after his contract expired at the end of the 2021 season, but Blanco is now set to sign a two-year contract with the aid of Targeted Allocation Money.

19.13 GMT: Manchester City are in talks to extend the contract of midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, writes Ekrem Konur. The Germany international's deal at the Etihad runs until next summer, but City want to extend that until 2025. If the sides are unable to find an agreement, clubs in England, Germany and Spain are considering a potential move.

18.40 GMT: Manchester United have interest in Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, according to Calciomercato. The 22-year-old has openly discussed a move away from the Serie A club in the future, and with his contract expiring in 2024, this summer could mark the moment for Juve to maximise any transfer fee for the Netherlands international.

18.07 GMT: Chelsea are interested in signing Real Madrid defender Eder Militao, according to AS. The Blues could lose three first-team centre-backs this summer, with Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen all out of contract and all attracting interest from other clubs. As a result Thomas Tuchel is said to be looking at Militao, 23, who has impressed for the LaLiga club since the loss of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos last summer.

17.34 GMT: Brazilian side Flamengo are in talks with Benfica to sign winger Everton on loan, according to Ekrem Konur.

The 25-year-old Brazil international, who can play on both wings, has only started half of the Lisbon club's league games this season, leading to a potential exit. While Flamengo want to bring him in on loan, Benfica are said to only want a permanent transfer.

17.00 GMT: Serie A side Udinese are set to sign Derby County right-back Festy Ebosele, reports Gianluca Di Marzio. The 19-year-old's contract with the Rams expires this summer, and the Italian club are looking to sign the Republic of Ireland youth international to a pre-contract, with a medical said to be underway.

16.25 GMT: Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is a target for Manchester United, says Marca.

Araujo, 22, has a contract at Camp Nou that is due to expire in the summer of 2023 but has yet to agree terms over a renewal.

The Uruguay international has been linked with a number of top clubs in Europe, including LaLiga rivals Real Madrid, and you can now add United to the list.

15.39 GMT: Ajax full-back Nicolas Tagliafico has told AS that he was disappointed to have missed out on a move to Barcelona in January.

Barcelona wanted some cover at left-back, but a deal for the Argentina international was not completed before the deadline.

"They [Ajax] understood me, they have their motives but it's a shame," he said. "I feel that opportunities can't be missed and it is a unique opportunity, to be able to go to a club like Barca.

"For me, it was a dream opportunity and they could not help me in the end. There wasn't clarity from the start There was also no clarity to tell me from the beginning that they were not going to help me. I am disappointed because I have the feeling that my professionalism has damaged me."

15.17 GMT: Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller could make a move to Everton, says Bild.

Muller, 32, is under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2023 and has been linked with a move away from the club where he has spent his whole career.

Everton and Newcastle could offer him a new challenge in Premier League.

14.50 GMT: Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said he did not contact Barcelona's out-of-favour winger Ousmane Dembele during the January transfer window and that he was satisfied even though the Premier League club did not add new players.

British media reported Chelsea were interested in France international Dembele, who was told by Barcelona to leave before the January transfer window closed after negotiations over a new contract broke down. However, the France international, who played under Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund in 2016-17, was unable to find another club before deadline day and will stay at Barcelona until the end of the campaign.

"I did not have contact with Ousmane [Dembele]. There was no contact in winter between us," Tuchel told reporters on Friday. "I am satisfied because it was a calm window and to be calm was the best thing. We were open for things."

Tuchel said the club tried to sign new players last month but settled for finding a solution within the current squad.

"We tried and had ideas. But in the end we stick to what we have and are happy," the German said, adding that the injured Reece James is expected to be back soon but not in time for their Club World Cup semifinal next week.

14.36 GMT: Manchester United defender Phil Jones' move to Bordeaux in the transfer window broke down because he did not get guarantees he was going to play regularly, sources told ESPN's Julien Laurens.

The French club, 17th in Ligue 1 and battling to avoid relegation, wanted an experienced centre-back to add to their squad, but could not promise Jones anything -- certainly not a regular starting position -- so both parties called off a potential deal.

Jones' request surprised Bordeaux considering his well-documented injury problems. The 29-year-old played for United in a 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves in January, his first match for 708 days.

Jones would have replaced another former Premier League centre-back in Laurent Koscielny, after Bordeaux terminated the former Arsenal captain's contract with 18 months left.

14.00 GMT: PSG will be looking for a new manager soon.

13.21 GMT: Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is on the radar to Tottenham, says Football Insider.

Osimhen, 23, has nine goals in 16 games so far this season and the Nigeria striker was reportedly the subject of a January bid.

Given Napoli spent €70m to sign him from Lille in 2020, Spurs will have to offer around that amount to persuade them to let him go in the summer.

12.47 GMT: Ousmane Dembele is seeking a salary of up to €8m after tax to sign for a new club this summer, sources told ESPN's James Olley.

The 24-year-old resisted strong pressure from Barcelona to leave during the January transfer window as they look to make space on their wage bill for four new signings, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's deadline day arrival from Arsenal on a free transfer.

Dembele was offered to several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham, and sources claim the winger's representatives were seeking a salary in the region of £250,000-a-week; the approximate equivalent of €8m-a-year after tax.

12.08 GMT: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said the club are still very much interested in signing Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho in the summer, after a January move broke down at the final hour.

Sources told ESPN on Wednesday that the club were still interested in signing the 19-year-old in an £8m deal and Klopp confirmed that the club had made a move to bring him in on Monday's deadline day, only for the club to run out of time to complete the transfer.

"We will see with that. Of course, we are obviously still interested," Klopp told a news conference on Friday ahead of this weekend's FA Cup clash with Cardiff City. "It would be crazy if we were not.

"It was late to do the deal before the transfer window closed again. And so in the end it did work out but yeah, we'll see what happens. These things are sometimes out of our hands."

11.55 GMT: Real Madrid are well-placed to sign Brazilian wonderkid Endrick, sources told ESPN's Alex Kirkland and Rodrigo Faez, but want to track his progress first and wouldn't consider paying the outlandish fees being discussed to sign the 15-year-old.

Endrick shone in the prestigious "Copinha" Sao Paulo youth cup last month, being named player of the tournament as Palmeiras won the competition for the first time in their history.

Madrid could not sign Endrick until he turns 18 in July 2024 but feel they are in a strong position should they decide to make a move, given their relationship with his agent, who also represents Vinicius Jr.

Sources said Madrid would not be willing to splash out more than they did to sign Vinicius, a deal for whom cost €45m in 2018. Further, the club are treading carefully as they "do not want another Reinier," sources said.

11.12 GMT: ICYMI - Jozy Altidore is poised to move to the New England Revolution, sources have confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.

One source cautioned that Altidore has yet to sign a deal, but terms on a three-year contract have been agreed. The source added that Altidore will be signed with the help of allocation money, meaning he will not count as a Designated Player. This will follow what is expected to be a one-time buyout by Altidore's current club, Toronto FC.

Under league rules, Toronto would free up salary budget space taken up by Altidore's contract, but would still be responsible for whatever portion of Altidore's salary New England's deal doesn't cover. According to the MLS Players Association, Altidore's 2021 guaranteed compensation was $3.6m.

10.35 GMT: Will Paul Pogba stay at Man United?

09.47 GMT: After deciding against adding to their squad in January because top targets were not available, Manchester United are focusing attention on signing a central midfielder in the summer, with work starting before a new permanent manager is appointed, sources told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

The Old Trafford recruitment department is working to whittle down a list of midfield targets, with West Ham's Declan Rice, Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips and Amadou Haidara at RB Leipzig all being considered.

09.29 GMT: Flamengo want to complete the signing of Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira on a permanent deal this weekend, O Globo reports.

Pereira joined Flamengo on a 12-month loan in August and has scored five goals in 24 appearances for the Brazilian giants.

Flamengo sporting director Bruno Spindel and the club's vice president Marcos Braz have travelled to England and will meet with United executives and with agent Kia Joorabchian, who is acting as an intermediary.

Negotiations are at an advanced stage with the Brazilian giants hoping the deal will be completed in the next 48 hours. Flamengo have offered United €8m and the Red Devils will keep a percentage of any future transfer fee.

Pereira, 26, is under contract with United until June 2023 and is keen to remain at Flamengo beyond this year. Should the deal be completed, Pereira will then sign a deal until 2026.

Pereira joined United from the PSV Eindhoven youth academy as a 16-year-old in 2011 and made his first team debut three years later.

08.42 GMT: Brentford manager Thomas Frank has described Christian Eriksen as potentially the club's "greatest signing ever."

Eriksen has signed a contract with the Bees until the end of the season, making a remarkable return to football just seven months after suffering an on-field cardiac arrest during his country's opening game of Euro 2020 in June against Finland, where he received life-saving treatment on the pitch.

The midfielder has not played a match since then, and while Frank revealed that the former Tottenham player will still be unavailable for "a few weeks" until they "know a bit more" about his condition, he hailed the signing.

"We got over the line," Frank said. "He is potentially the greatest signing ever for the club. "It is going to be an unbelievable day, the day he steps on to the pitch. We all saw what happed to him. It was crazy. To see him out on the pitch soon will be a good day."

Eriksen had been out of contract since he left Inter Milan due to not being permitted to compete in Serie A after being fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, a type of pacemaker that can prevent fatal cardiac arrests.

08.00 GMT: Ralf Rangnick has urged Paul Pogba to "show up" for Manchester United during the final months of his contract.

Pogba is back in the squad for the FA Cup fourth round tie against Middlesbrough of Friday (stream LIVE at 2:55 p.m. ET on ESPN+ in the U.S.) after nearly three months on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

Out of contract at the end of the season, he will be a free agent in the summer but Rangnick has told the French player he should be motivated to find his best form.

"I'm happy to have him back in the squad as I said he might be playing from the start [against Middlesbrough]," Rangnick told a news conference on Thursday.

"It's up to him now. His contract is expiring in the summer and if in the end he would like to stay or go somewhere else he has to show up.

"It's not only in the interest for us as a club but it's in his personal interest that he plays and performs at the highest possible level in the next couple of weeks."

Sources have told ESPN that United have not been informed that Pogba will definitely leave Old Trafford in the summer but there is significant interest in the 28-year-old from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

The Serie A club will now look to open talks again with his agent Jorge Mendes in a bid to agree personal terms.

- Fabrizio Romano reveals that Phil Jones will remain at Manchester United until the end of the season. - Ismael Bennacer is set to reach a four-year extension on his current terms with AC Milan, reports Calciomercato. It is reported that he will earn €3m per season.

- Flamengo and Benfica remain in talks over a deal for Everton, who is keen to make the switch to Rio de Janeiro. The 25-year-old winger is pushing to join the Brazilian side, according to Rudy Galetti, though recent reports suggest that Benfica have set €15m as their asking price. Everton has made 16 appearances in Liga NOS this season, scoring two goals and assisting another three.
