Wilson: Euro hopes dented

Guarin, 27, was linked with a move to Chelsea in January, while he was on the verge of joining Juventus in an ill-fated swap deal with Mirko Vucinic that broke down at the final hour.

However, the Colombia international is now staying put at the San Siro, and he told Inter’s official website of his joy at committing his future to the Serie A club.

"I'm delighted," he said. "This is another dream come true for me and I'm over the moon. I've been here for over two years and it's been a very positive experience. Every day that passes allows me to earn even more experience and to add another three years of this experience is very positive."

Guarin joined Inter from Porto in January 2012 and has played 82 times for the club, scoring 14 goals.

And the midfielder is hoping to add to that tally on Thursday night, when the Nerazzurri take on Udinese in Serie A.

"That would be good for the squad, and to celebrate something truly special," he said. "I want to thank the president, the coach and the staff, but above all my teammates and the fans because the faith they are showing in me is important. I hope to give them a lot back for this project."
