De Maio’s representative confirmed no official approach has yet been made by the Rossoneri, but said he is aware of a strong interest, particularly on the part of their coach Clarence Seedorf.
"Officially, as the player's agent, I have not yet had any contact with Milan, but let's wait to see what happens," Tavano told calciomercato.com.
"I've heard of Milan's interest, particularly Seedorf's. We've not got any further than it just being a possibility, though."
Tavano believes De Maio would be suited to the Rossoneri, adding: "He has not yet been able to show himself off at the highest level, partly because of injuries and also for other reasons. He's now shown Serie A what he's worth. He's a defender who can dictate the play from the back and that makes him a very interesting player.
"Of course Milan are a top club and it would be a dream for De Maio, like it would be for any footballer. It would certainly be a very interesting option."
De Maio is contracted to the Grifone until 2017, having joined them last summer from Brescia. The French defender has featured 21 times this season, scoring twice, although he did not make his first start until January. Since then, he has missed just three games, one due to suspension.
