Ansaldi, 27, has spent almost all of his professional career in Russia having joined Rubin Kazan from Newell's Old Boys in 2008. He spent five years at Rubin before moving to Zenit for the 2013-14 campaign.
The Spanish champions announced on their official website that the full-back had passed a medical on Friday before putting pen to paper on the deal.
Jose Luis Perez Caminero, Atletico's sporting manager, said, "Ansaldi is a player who's going to help us increase the squad's competitiveness. He's a full-back who can play on either side, he's a great defender and provides options on the attack. He will bring plenty with his versatility, we are very pleased with this agreement."
The Argentina international moves to Spain having won two Russian league titles and the Russian Cup, all with Rubin.
