Man United's Anderson set for Internacional, Juan Mata suggests

Anderson is leaving Manchester United to return to Brazil, according to his teammate Juan Mata, with Internacional expected to complete a deal.

Anderson, who was reportedly in Brazil at the weekend, is bringing his seven-and-a-half year stay at Old Trafford to an end to return to his homeland.

The midfielder cost United 26 million pounds and, while the clubs are yet to confirm the deal, it is likely he is leaving on a free transfer.

His contract at Old Trafford was due to expire in the summer and the 26-year-old had not been offered a new deal.

Anderson has been pictured in Internacional training kit after undergoing a medical at the Hospital Mae de Deus in Porto Alegre.

Anderson had not made a first-team appearance since August, when he came off the bench to replace Angel Di Maria in the 0-0 draw at Burnley, for his second and last game under Louis van Gaal.

The former Porto player had an unsuccessful loan spell at Fiorentina in the second half of last season after falling out of favour under previous manager David Moyes.

Anderson made an initial impact after joining United in 2007, scoring a penalty in the 2008 Champions League final shootout victory over Chelsea and then starting in the final against Barcelona 12 months later.

But he only made 70 Premier League starts during his long and injury-hit spell at Old Trafford and lost his No. 8 shirt to Mata.

The Spaniard wrote in his blog: "I want to wish good luck to my friend Anderson, who is back to football in his native Brazil. All the best, my friend!"
