Monaco forward Lacina Traore will undergo surgery on his right shin later this week and is expected to miss up to eight weeks of action.
The Ivory Coast international returned injured from the African Nations Cup, where his nation won their first continental title since 1992.
Monaco have said Traore aggravated a "stress fracture on his right shin that has been known and treated since the beginning of the season."
Traore has hardly played for Monaco this season, scoring one league goal in six games. He is expected to be back in training "within six and eight weeks."
Monaco travel to Arsenal on Wednesday for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.
