North Korea striker Jong Tae-Se -- dubbed "the People's Wayne Rooney" -- has signed for Japan's Shimizu S-Pulse.
Jong, 31, who was born in Nagoya, Japan to Korean parents and holds a North Korean passport, completed a move from South Korea's Suwon Bluewings to the J-League side.
"I would like to dedicate myself from here on to Shimizu S-Pulse," Jong said following the transfer. "I will sacrifice myself and advance as one with the team.
"I want to carve the words 'history' and 'honour' into my heart and the hearts of the supporters."
The striker became known as "the People's Wayne Rooney" after guiding North Korea to the 2010 World Cup -- their first finals in 44 years -- though they lost all three group games at the tournament.
The forward previously played for Japan's Kawasaki Frontale, scored 46 goals in 112 games between 2006 and 2010.
Jong moved to Bochum in 2010 and then Cologne in 2012, but found goals more difficult to come by in Germany before joining Suwon in 2013.
S-Pulse have turned to Jong after finishing bottom of the J-League's 18-team first division first stage, winning just three of 17 matches.
