FC Dallas get Ezequiel Cirigliano on loan from River Plate

FRISCO, Texas -- FC Dallas has signed Argentine midfielder Ezequiel Cirigliano on loan from the River Plate club in his home country.

The move announced Wednesday is waiting on Cirigliano's international transfer certificate and visa. FC Dallas used allocation money to acquire him.

The 23-year-old Cirigliano began his career with River Plate in 2009 and has made 59 appearances, including 47 starts, for the Argentine power. Cirigliano played with Hellas Verona of Italy's Serie A in 2013-14.

FC Dallas President Dan Hunt says Cirigliano is a "high-octane guy who moves around well."

Speaking to the club's website, Cirigliano expressed excitement to join the franchise.

"I am very happy to be here. I know that the team is in first place and playing very good soccer right now. I am very excited for the change [to be] here and I'm just excited to get out there and play and prove that I deserve [this] chance with the team," he said.

Western Conference-leading FC Dallas, with 35 points, plays host to Portland on Saturday night.
