Real Betis winger Juan Manuel Vargas and Colo Colo midfielder Christofer Gonzalez are the latest additions to Peru's team for 2018 World Cup qualifying matches next month against Paraguay and Brazil.
Peru coach Ricardo Gareca revealed his list of 14 players who are seeing action in international leagues and will next week add to that list the players in the local league.
Vargas returns to the Peru team after a muscle injury that forced him to sit out the first two qualifying dates in which Peru lost 2-0 to Colombia and 4-3 against Chile in Lima.
Gonzales is getting his first call-up since Gareca took over the team in March of this year. The Argentine coach is using Gonzales to cover for Christian Cueva, who was dealt a red card during the match against Chile. Cueva will return to the squad to face Brazil.
Peru meet Paraguay on Nov. 13 in Lima and face Brazil four days later in Bahia.
The 14 players included are:
Defenders: Luis Advíncula (Bursaspor), Carlos Ascues (Wolfsburg), Juan Manuel Vargas (Real Betis), Yoshimar Yotún (Malmo) and Carlos Zambrano (Eintracht Frankfurt).
Midfielders: Christian Cueva (Toluca), Christofer Gonzáles (Colo Colo), Paolo Hurtado (Reading), Renato Tapia (Twente) and André Carrillo (Sporting-Portugal).
Forwards: Jefferson Farfán (Al Jazira), Paolo Guerrero (Flamengo), Claudio Pizarro (Werder Bremen) and Yordy Reyna (Red Bull Salzburg).
