TURIN, Italy -- Juventus midfielder Hernanes will be sidelined for nearly a month with a thigh injury, ruling him out Wednesday's Champions League match at home against Manchester City.
Hernanes was injured in Saturday's 1-0 win over AC Milan and the Brazil international was taken off at halftime.
Juventus said on Monday that tests revealed "a first-grade tear in the adductor longus muscle in the midfielder's right thigh" and "the prognosis for a return to action is around three weeks."
That means he likely won't return this year as Juve's last match before the winter break is on Dec. 20 at Carpi.
Juventus are second behind City in their Champions League group, with Sevilla five points back.
Four-time defending champion Juventus are currently sixth in Serie A, nine points behind league leader Inter Milan.
