Chelsea to step up Antoine Griezmann chase by adding Diego Costa

The transfer window may have just slammed shut, but don't think that the wheeling and dealing won't continue!

Free transfers can still be submitted to the FAs, plus there's always January to start thinking about! As always, you can see all the latest deals here.

TOP STORY: Chelsea to fight United for Griezmann

Just days after the transfer window closed, the works are already in motion for potentially a second-successive world transfer record.

Enter Antoine Griezmann, with Manchester United setting their sights on nailing down Paul Pogba's France teammate to continue a Galactico era at Old Trafford.

Though the Atletico star is adamant he would only leave if Diego Simeone departed, the Telegraph now reports that Chelsea are plotting to make their move too.

The Blues might grant Diego Costa his wish to return to the Spanish capital -- rather than trigger Griezmann's £84 million release clause -- in order to sweeten the deal.

Chelsea, Inter snubbed by Roma star

He was Antonio Conte's primary target upon moving to Stamford Bridge, but Radja Nainggolan has resisted a move to Chelsea and Inter in favour of signing a new deal with Roma.

The Belgian will look to lead the Giallorossi's push for their top players to sign new deals with Kostas Manolas also ready to extend, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Former Cagliari star Nainggolan will pocket €5m net per year, according to the outlet, though the Blues offered €6m this summer.

The Rome-based newspaper reports the agreement is finalised and only Daniele De Rossi, who signed a ludicrous contract worth €6.5million per year, will earn more at the club.

Real Madrid to return for Valencia starlet

Despite just one Champions League appearance for Valencia, Real Madrid are targeting Rafa Mir for next summer.

Los Merengues will hope to avoid a transfer ban after their appeal is heard this week and that could open up the possibility of acquiring the 19-year-old in 2017, says AS.

With just one year left on his current deal, Madrid are in a powerful position and hope to add the forward before his star grows too big this year at the Mestalla.

Yaya to perform City u-turn?

Yaya Toure's future appeared bleak at the Etihad after Pep Guardiola refused to include the Ivorian in his Champions League squad.

But Toure is prepared to knuckle down instead of flirting with some of Europe's biggest clubs from January, when he will be able to sign a pre-contract deal ahead of a free transfer in summer 2017.

The Mail believes the former Barcelona star will look to win over the Spaniard in the next few months, rather than merely surrender the final few months of his City career. Toure's agent has warned of a mass exodus of fans to the Red side of Manchester because of the Ivorians' treatment by Guardiola, but perhaps it's not too late to save the Toure minions at Man City.

Tap-ins

- Sunderland have finally clinched the signing of Mika from Boavista to provide cover for the injured Vito Mannone after FIFA sanctioned the deal.

The deal was held up on deadline day due to technical faults preventing the Portuguese side signing off from their end but now the shot stopper has penned a two-year deal with the Black Cats.

- David Moyes will add another custodian to reinforce the position with Mannone out for three months by snapping up veteran Marco Amelia.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports a deal could be happen within 48 hours for the World Cup winner.

- Newly minted Valencia loanee Munir has his eyes set on Champions League football at the Mestalla, and believes he's the man to help guide them there during his year-long stint with Pako Ayestaran's club.
