The Portland Timbers beat the Colorado Rapids 1-0 on Sunday afternoon -- a result that just about spared the blushes of their striker, Fanendo Adi.
Three minutes after opening the scoring from the spot, Adi was gifted another chance to double Timbers' lead when a foul by Vytautas Andriuskevicius saw the home side awarded another penalty.
Sadly, Adi was unable to repeat the feat after seeing his first attempt repelled by Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard, and his second attempt ... well, put it this way, his second attempt wasn't pretty.
Thankfully for Adi, Timbers were able to hold onto their narrow advantage until the final whistle.
Indeed, the win just about keeps them in the playoff hunt going into the final fixture of the regular season next against the Whitecaps in Vancouver next Sunday.
