Naldo targets swift Wolfsburg return after shoulder operation

Wolfsburg centre-back Naldo has undergone surgery on his injured shoulder and vowed to return to action as soon as possible.

Naldo, 33, suffered the injury in his side's 2-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich last Saturday.

After surgery in Munich on Wednesday, the Brazilian, who has German citizenship, told the club's official website: "I'm doing fine, and I'm happy the operation was conducted without any problems."

The club said Naldo would be released from hospital on Friday, and immediately begin "the necessary rehabilitation measures" to "get fit and back out on the pitch again as quickly as possible."

Wolfsburg sold Timm Klose to Norwich in January, and currently only have Dante and Robin Knoche available at centre-back.

The 2015 Bundesliga runners-up are eighth in the table, but remain in the race for a Champions League spot.

Later this month, they attempt to reach the last eight in the Champions League for the first time when they take on Gent with a 3-2 lead from the first leg.
