Transfer Rater: Claudio Marchisio to Chelsea, Kevin Strootman to Man Utd

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Claudio Marchisio to Chelsea

Antonio Conte is looking for a reunion with former Juventus charge Claudio Marchisio this summer after the 31-year-old fell down the pecking order at the Bianconeri, according to Calciomercato.

Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira have been favoured by Juve boss Max Allegri this season, with both Chelsea and Manchester United thought to be interested in taking advantage of the midfielder's situation.

However, Conte is thought to have a strong relationship with Marchisio having worked with him at club and international level so, if any move happens, Stamford Bridge appears to be the most likely destination.

Joe Hart to Southampton

Southampton are the latest club to linked with a summer swoop for unwanted Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, The Sun is reporting.

Hart is currently on loan at Italian side Torino, and said in an interview with the BBC that he is "surplus to requirements" at the Etihad.

The Saints fear that they will lose their current No. 1, Fraser Forster, at the end of the season, with Everton thought to be interested in the former Celtic man.

Toni Kroos to Manchester United

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos would be the perfect replacement for Michael Carrick, according to Rio Ferdinand.

The former United defender was writing in The Times, but Ferdinand admitted it may be hard to prise the Germany international away from the Bernabeu.

It was reported last month that the Old Trafford club were reigniting their interest in the 27-year-old, having previously come close to securing his signature when David Moyes was in charge.

Granit Xhaka to Bayern Munich

Former Bayern Munich manager Ottmar Hitzfeld are interested in Arsenal's 24-year-old defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka as a replacement for the retiring Xabi Alonso.

Hitzfeld, who spent two spells with Bayern as manager, made the claim to Sport Bild, stating: "Bayern certainly has Xhaka on the radar.

"Xhaka is always a topic for current top clubs and his development is not yet complete."

The Switzerland international has found it difficult to get to grips with life in the Premier League, scoring three and providing just one assist in all competitions for the Gunners this season.

Kevin Strootman to Manchester United

Reports in the Netherlands are suggesting that Manchester United are in advanced talks over a deal to sign Roma's Dutch star Kevin Strootman.

United were close to signing the midfielder back in 2013, but the then PSV Eindhoven man opted for a switch to the Italian capital instead.

The Red Devils are apparently happy to part with €40 million to match the 27-year-old's asking price following an impressive season, which has seen Strootman score four and provide another four in the league.
