It is an important summer for Liverpool in the transfer market as they look to build upon their top four finish.
Focus is mainly on incomings, but a number of players are likely to depart this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to build a squad that can adequately compete in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Here are five high-profile players likely to leave Liverpool this summer ...
Lucas Leiva
When asked at the end of the season whether Lucas had played his last game for the club, Klopp simply responded: "No idea."
The Brazilian is the longest serving player at the club after 10 years of service and has one year remaining on his contract. Speaking in April, Lucas said he can still play at a "top level" and "wouldn't like to just be around" solely as a dressing room presence. Klopp is likely to recruit a midfielder and a central defender this summer -- making it increasingly more difficult for Lucas to get game time.
Liverpool, however, will not stand in Lucas' way should a move materialise. In December, sources told ESPN FC Liverpool looked kindly on an approach from Inter Milan due to his loyal service.
Mamadou Sakho
Sakho has no future at Liverpool following numerous disciplinary issues. The Frenchman was shipped out on loan to Crystal Palace in January, having been banished to Liverpool's Under-23s setup by Klopp.
Liverpool demanded £20 million for Sakho in the winter transfer market but found no willing suitors. However, after an impressive spell at Selhurst Park, it should be easier to shift Sakho this summer for a healthy transfer fee. Palace were interested in making Sakho's stay at the club a permanent one, but Sam Allardyce's resignation and Liverpool's high asking price may have changed the landscape. Plenty of other clubs will have noticed Sakho's revival, however.
Alberto Moreno
The Spaniard is almost certain to leave Liverpool this summer. Despite being the only recognised senior left-back at the club, Moreno made just eight starts last season, with James Milner operating as Liverpool's left-sided full-back.
There were plenty of opportunities for Moreno to feature more throughout 2016-17, but Klopp is just not keen on his ability. Sources say Liverpool are looking to recoup all, if not more, of the £12m they paid Sevilla in August 2014 from any potential sale. AC Milan and Inter Milan have both enquired about Moreno, while interest from La Liga is emerging.
Lazar Markovic
Markovic could have sensed his time at Liverpool was set to come to an end when, in January, despite having a shortage of wingers, the Reds were only willing to cut short his unsuccessful loan stay at Sporting Lisbon if he agreed to move to Hull City.
Markovic has played just 34 times for the Reds since his £20m move from Benfica in August 2014 and has found himself out of favour under two managers. The Serbia international impressed on loan at Hull, who were planning on holding talks about signing Markovic on a permanent deal in the summer. However, relegation to the Championship and Marco Silva's departure to Watford may have put an end to those hopes.
Kevin Stewart
After signing a long-term contract at Liverpool in November, Stewart has made just three appearances since. Sources told ESPN FC that Liverpool rejected offers for Stewart in January, but Klopp did acknowledge the concern in the long-term future for the midfielder would be the lack regular action on offer.
The former Tottenham trainee is expected to depart Anfield this summer and Liverpool believe they could receive as much as £10m from a sale.
