Former Paris Saint-Germain defender Gregory van der Wiel is on the verge of a move to Fenerbahce, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.
Netherlands defender Van der Wiel is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain upon the expiration of his contract.
Van der Wiel has travelled to Istanbul to hold talks with Fenerbahce and the Turkish club are confident of securing the full-back's signature.
A number of Premier League clubs expressed an interest in Van der Wiel, but Fenerbahce have moved quickly to try and beat them to the former Ajax ace.
The 28-year-old spent four years at PSG, but after struggling to hold down a regular place in the side last season he was informed he would not be handed a new deal at the Parc des Princes.
Van der Wiel, who was a member of Dutch side that reached the the semifinals of the 2014 World Cup, enjoyed great success with PSG winning four successive Ligue 1 titles, three Coupe de la Ligue trophies and the Coupe de France during his time in France.
