Galatasaray want Bruma stay despite Manchester United talk - source

Galatasaray want to keep Bruma despite interest from Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven, a source close to the player has told ESPN FC.

Bruma put in an impressive display against United last Saturday, leading to speculation about his future with Galatasaray valuing him at €25 million.

The winger has been given assurances that he will enjoy an important role in the side next season if he does stay on, and the club feel that he will bring in offers matching their valuation next summer.

Bruma started for Galatasaray and scored his sixth goal in five games over the preseason period when he found the back of the net against United at the Ullevi stadium in Sweden.

United did go on to win the game 5-2 but head coach Jose Mourinho spoke with Bruma after the game, praising the Portuguese attacker for his performance.

Mourinho also said that United will be keeping tabs on the 21-year-old next season and that if Bruma continues to play at this level he will find himself in the Portugal national team.

Bruma told reporters in the mixed zone after the game that Mourinho had a brief meeting with him.

"He congratulated me for the performance and said he was impressed with me," Bruma said. "He promised to closely monitor my work and said I could play for the national team soon.

"Of course it was amazing to hear this from Mourinho and he said he will keep an eye on how I do this season."

Bruma has made no secret of his desire to play Premier League football. The 21-year-old's agent, Marko Kirdemir, said that Everton made an offer back in 2014 and that the player wants to player Premier League football in the future.

"Everton were very keen on signing Bruma," Kirdemir said. "However, [former Galatasaray president] Unal Aysal was not prepared to loan him out. The president made it clear that he would have only consider bids for a permanent deal back then.

"I can see Bruma playing in the Premier League in the future."

Bruma was loaned out last season to Real Sociedad where he scored three times and provided one assist in 33 appearances for the Liga outfit.

Galatasaray were coached by Hamza Hamzaoglu when Bruma was sent out on loan but he has since been replaced by Mustafa Denizli followed by Jan Olde Riekerink, who is currently in charge of the team.

Riekerink has used Bruma throughout the preseason period and it looks as though he has plans for the young winger next season.

Bruma joined Galatasaray on a €10m move from Sporting Lisbon in 2013 and has another two remaining on his current contract.

The Portugal under-21 international has scored four times and provided 12 assists for Galatasaray in all competitions since joining but this could be his first league campaign as a first-team regular.
