McCormack, who signed a new contract last summer, cost Fulham £11m when they signed him from Leeds in July 2014.
The 29-year-old scored 21 goals for Fulham in the Championship last season.
Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo has already brought goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, defender Tommy Elphick and midfielder Aaron Tshibola to Villa Park this summer but is yet to sign a striker.
