Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has hinted he will shuffle his pack for the visit of Everton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. With regular starters Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and David Luiz set to sit this one out, fringe members of the squad will be given a chance to shine.
Here are five players with a point to prove ...
Michy Batshuayi
Batshuayi was the hero on Saturday, coming off the bench and scoring twice as Chelsea beat Watford 4-2. He averages a goal every 53 minutes this season, with the Belgium forward having also netted a dramatic winner against Atletico Madrid after beginning the game as a substitute.
There are, however, signs Conte doesn't completely trust Batshuayi. The Chelsea boss preferred to deploy Willian up front when the injured Morata was replaced against Manchester City, while he was then hauled off after a listless display against Crystal Palace a week later.
Batshuayi needs a big performance on Wednesday to prove he can be more than just a super-sub. After scoring a hat trick against Nottingham Forest in the third round, the former Marseille man must again make the most of his opportunity.
Charly Musonda
Conte name-checked Musonda in the build-up to Wednesday's match, saying the meeting with Everton was a good chance to hand some of his younger players a competitive outing in the first team.
Musonda was excellent in the 5-1 thrashing of Forest last month, scoring once and continually asking questions of the Championship side's backline with his quick feet and tricky dribbling. The Belgian has had to remain patient since then, with his only subsequent game time coming as a second-half substitute in the loss to Crystal Palace.
Musonda turned 21 earlier this month and after spending time on loan at Real Betis in 2015-16 and 2016-17, is presumably at the stage of his career where he wants to be playing on a much more regular basis. While he'll be desperate to impress on Wednesday, Musonda -- whose contract expires in 2019 -- will be looking for more than just occasional League Cup appearances before he's willing to commit his long-term future to Chelsea.
Davide Zappacosta
A deadline day signing from Torino, Zappacosta has acquitted himself well whenever called upon this term. He's still yet to start a Premier League game, however, with Conte preferring to shift Cesar Azpilicueta to right wing-back in Victor Moses' absence against Watford at the weekend.
With Azpilicueta among the first teamers likely to sit this one out, Zappacosta looks set to be included in Conte's XI on Wednesday. At his best the Italian offers energetic running, assuredness in possession and a dangerous delivery from the right flank, although he did look a little defensively shaky during the victory over Forest.
Moses' hamstring injury will keep him out until after the November international break, with two Premier League fixtures and one Champions League game to come before then. A positive showing against Everton could help Zappacosta nail down a place in the team for those matches against Bournemouth, Roma and Manchester United.
Tiemoue Bakayoko
Bakayoko has had a mixed start to his Chelsea career. The ex-Monaco man played the full 90 minutes on his debut against Tottenham despite not being fully fit, and there have been signs he's still not completely up to speed two months on -- the midfielder sustained a niggling groin injury in last week's 3-3 draw with Roma, for instance.
Acquired as a replacement for Nemanja Matic, Bakayoko is actually a very different player to the Manchester United man. More dynamic and athletic, the France international excels at driving through the middle of the pitch and carrying the ball forward on the counterattack. He doesn't bring the same sort of control as Matic, though, and has often been guilty of wastefulness in possession.
"I think he has great quality and now he's very strong without the ball -- but with work he can improve with the ball in the same way as N'Golo [Kante]," Conte said last month. With Danny Drinkwater and Kante still sidelined, Bakayoko must look at the clash with Everton as a chance to demonstrate his quality in both phases of the game.
Kenedy
When Kenedy was sent home from Chelsea's preseason tour of China following a distasteful Instagram post, it was hard to see a way back for the Brazilian. Yet Conte has held out on an olive branch to the 21-year-old, who looks set to start against Everton.
Leaving aside social media misdemeanours, Kenedy has plenty of work to do to if he's to convince Conte of his worth. A loan spell at Watford last season was extremely unproductive, yielding just 15 minutes of Premier League action, and it's still not clear what his best position is. If Kenedy wants to become more than just a squad player at Stamford Bridge, he needs to impress on Wednesday night.
